Okay there are two reasons for this blog post:

Firstly i am almost sure that I shall purchase vB Blog in the next few days, so thought I would test drive this blog space pank has given me as a verified customer. It is just as a last thing before I commit, you know guys that commitment thing! thanks pank :)

Secondly and the main part of this blog is to voice my total amazement at the people out there complaining about paying again for another years worth of updates to download the newest compatible version for thier forum software.

WOW, there seems to be a few disgruntled kids out there.

For the past 2 -3 years I have been away from the vBulletin community due to work related commitments and travel, however back then I had a very successful site running on vBulletin with vBadvanced CMS, vBSEO, GARS, GAL, Bug Tracker, Blah Blah blah, yeah you get the picture, I spent a few hundred £ / $ on furnishing my sitewith the best paid mods, Hacks & scripts or whatever you wish to call them. Now its ok having spent all that cash making the site fucntion both front and backend, but dam how ugly is the default vBulletin skin!!! So a bit of the google magic and yes you guessed it I found pank and his amazing skins, oh and at a fraction of what I had paid for everything else.

Now to be honest I think the skin is the most important part of the site, it is the first thing your guests / users see, it does not matter to them that you have spent $140 on vBSEO or you have a $180 owned vB license, what matters to alot of people is the visual appeal, they gotta look at it. so the $30 for that must be worth it.

So three months ago I decided now I am firmly rooted down that I would set up another site..Well I have all these licenses lets get to it  has it really been that long since i bought all this stuff! i had re license everything, some things did not even exist! i had a couple of scripts that had a 4 year payment on them!! company had gone, sold off! Scripts were incompatible!! Oh well live and learn..

So this is what i needed

1. renew vBulletin owned License
2. renew vBseo license
3. renew Gars
4. renew GAL
5. renew vBAdvanced links
6. renew a truck load of backend scripts

Yes and there is more!! you can do the math!

Oh and now that is all done and a few $ / £ light in my wallet i came back to see pank and renewed my skin to give my site the final touches!!! really $30 is it too much for your site to look good?

So why are people whinning about renewing a skin here when surely you would have needed to renew other stuff.

Here is an idea, go to wordpress get a free blog and a free theme and leave the real forums and dedicated people to get on with things.

I have had dealings with this site and read a lot of threads, I can say that pank has always been upfront and honest about things, I also believe that he has helped a few people out with free updates etc if the renewal time frame has been a short one, (but I may be wrong)

So quite moaning do your site a favour and get a professional skin here, or in the future cause extremepixels will certainly be around. Not like the 4 vendors who disappeared on me!

So there is my one and only blog entry here, i am a decent guy, but do not really care if you flame me this post or my site, been around too long to care what you think :D

you can visit my site its in the sig, it is open but not quite complete, if you got an iPhone then definatly come along.

This maybe written or phrased badly but its a rush job. think I am going to buy vB blog right now so i can moan on my own site...Cheers pank from a happy customer.

Another stunning day. Soaring temperatures, Booted Eagles flying in blue skies above the house. We're all fit and well. Life in Andalucía is good.
The oranges are ripening nicely on the trees and are about perfect for picking.
It's easy to take good photo's of oranges contrasted against blue skies. I like this one Jane took of sunlight hitting a single orange blossom on the shady side of a tree.

We went to see Rosie and Domingo. We took them for an evening stroll.
Here are a few photo's.

This is Rosie with the pretty pueblo Jubrique across the valley.Rosie Donkey Jubrique
Here's Domingo running down the track to get his seed and hay.Domingo Burro
We've heard Bee-Eaters calling to each other for a few days. Jane got a good sighting of one perched on a wire as she drove down into Benarrabá. I've only seen them flying in the distance. It's like seeing old friends as the migrants return to their summer homes.
We cooked some homemade cheese and onion slices. Far better than the shop bought variety.

In the evening we watched 'Resurrecting The Champ'. Directed by Rod Lurie. With Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Hartnett and Kathryn Morris. Great film. Combination of boxing and journalism drama. A up and coming sports journist, son of a famous radio broadcaster sees an opportunity for a major story when he finds an ex-champ living rough on the streets.
A really good film, not so much about boxing but about father/son relationships and integrity. Samuel L. Jackson is brilliant as 'The Champ'.

Best Buy’s Golden Gift to Halo Players

We get a lot of stick for how big Halo has become, with T-shirts, sodas, action figures and so on, but sometimes our promotional partners give you something to really sink your teeth into. Such is the case with our friends at Best Buy. And this one is BIG.

During the launch period of Halo 3, the 25th, 26th and 27th of September, Best Buy will be sponsoring the Xbox Live Gold service and making it free for everyone. Think of it as Halo Free Gold Days. That means that even if you only have Xbox Live Silver, or you picked up a 360 just for Halo 3, that you’ll be able to try almost all of the features – online co-op, Multiplayer, Forge editing, viewing networked Saved Films - however, you will not be able to use our File Share system unless you subscribe to the paid Xbox Live Gold service.

To be honest, it’s a blessing for us. Some of our game’s most amazing features can only be fully enjoyed on Xbox Live with a Gold account – and we wanted as many people as possible to at least try those features. Now they can. Which means less talk and more action. So thanks to Best Buy, during those first three days, all you’ll need is an Xbox 360, a broadband connection and a copy of Halo 3. Although, it should be noted you’ll have access to Xbox Live Gold for any game, not just ours.

And that’s not all. Best Buy is pulling out all the stops by presenting the Xbox Live and Best Buy Play & Win Sweepstakes-8000 Microsoft Points will be given away during the free Xbox Live period to 144 randomly selected winners. Which means you might be lucky enough to win some points to download and watch some HD movies on your 360 and presumably the ridiculously giant new Home Theater setup you just bought for Halo 3. You did, right? You’re not playing Halo 3 on a 14 inch set in your basement are you?

Turning this into a real event, those first prize winners will then be entered for the chance to win an incredibly well-specified and complete Home Theater setup, comprising the brand-new Samsung AS720 5.1, HDMI-equipped Home Theater system, an upscaling DVD player and the state of the art LED-powered Samsung HLT6187 61 inch 1080p DLP TV. Paired with a 360 running Halo 3, it’s quite a system.

And that’s not all – in conjunction with Pontiac, one of these 144 lucky winners will be awarded a Halo 3 themed Pontiac G6 GXP Street Edition.

Inside your future ride?

Oh, and speaking of Home Theater experiences, watch out in the near future for our launch article on AV calibration and Halo 3.

Make sure you register in the Xbox LIVE and Best Buy Play & Win Sweepstakes for your chance to enter and win these great prizes: - we'll post the link as soon as it goes live, later this week.

And remember, this is a Best Buy contest, not a Bungie one, so make sure you read all their terms and conditions!
